Snow Removal
For snow and ice removal, city equipment consists of 3 large salt/sand spreaders; 3 smaller spreaders with attached plows; 2 graders (used to push snow off roads); and 8 plows/spreaders that attach to city vehicles. Five crews (4 city staff members per crew) are deployed in pickup trucks as well and work to clear intersections manually.

N.M. 528/Pat D’Arco Highway; N.M. 347/Paseo del Volcan; and N.M. 448/Corrales Road are state roads maintained by the New Mexico Department of Transportation – the city of Rio Rancho does not maintain or perform snow and ice removal from these roads. In addition, U.S. 550 (NW Loop to N.M. 528) is maintained by the New Mexico Department of Transportation.
