Traffic Update
This page contains information on lane restrictions that may be present during road construction in the City of Rio Rancho.  Information will be updated on this page as it becomes available. Motorists traveling within construction zones are urged to drive with caution and observe traffic control devices. Remember to always wear your seat belt and drive the speed limit.

Current Road Construction:

  • Broadmoor Boulevard:  Construction for the Broadmoor Boulevard Project will be from 7:00 a.m -5:00 p.m., Monday-Friday, and weekends as needed.  Broadmoor Boulevard from north of Inca Road to south of Norwich Avenue, as well as the section of Northern Boulevard to Idalia Road will be closed effective September 30, 2016.  The first phase of construction, from Norwich Avenue to Paseo del Volcan (NM 347) is currently being finalized and will be completed and open to traffic by September 30, 2016.  The residents of Hidden Valley subdivision will need to take Norwich Avenue onto Broadmoor Boulevard and go north towards Paseo del Volcan (NM 347).  The residents of Mirador del Sol subdivision can use Inca Road to access Broadmoor Boulevard and go south towards Idalia Road.  The closure is estimated to continue for 30 days.
    • Construction is from May 2016 - December 2016.
    • Notification: Broadmoor Boulevard will be entirely opened to the public in mid November 2016.  A ribbon cutting event will be held prior to opening.

  • Idalia Road: Construction for the Idalia Road Project will be from 7:00 a.m - 5:00 p.m., Monday-Friday, and weekends as needed.  Idalia Road is currently closed from Chayote Road to Camino Encantadas.  Residents can utilize Iris Road, Lincoln Avenue, Chayote Road, Campeche Road, and Pasilla Road for detours.  Construction on the section of Idalia Road between Camino Encantadas and NM 528 intersections is ongoing.  On October 9, 2016, both westbound and eastbound lanes of traffic will be shifted to the northern portion of Idalia Road keeping both directions open.  The lane shifts will extend into Camino Encantadas and Oersted Road.  Access to the Sandoval County/Judicial complex will be through Health Common Road and Oersted Road.  The complex access via Idalia Road has been closed permanently.  Please watch for trucks and construction workers in work zone areas.  Please also follow all construction signs and detours.
    • Construction is from November 16, 2015 - November 2016.
    • Notification: Idalia Road is open from the Iris Road roundabout to Chayote Road for local traffic.  The intersection of Idalia Road and Campeche Road is open for North/South traffic only.
    • Notification to Residents: Please keep away from the construction zone.  There are several pieces of construction equipment running back and forth at the job site, and it is not safe to walk or bike along this area.
    • Notification: Idalia Road will be entirely opened to the public in early November 2016.  A ribbon cutting event will be held prior to opening.

  • Go Bond Small.jpg Sara Road: Work for the Sara Project will be from 7:00 a.m - 5:00 p.m., Monday-Friday, and weekends as needed.  This project includes road rehabilitation which means that traffic barricades will be up on a constant basis until work is complete.  There will be various lane and road closures to allow for the construction.

  • This map is updated every 5 minutes.

  • Key:
    • Blue is fast (above the speed limit)
    • Green is normal (around the speed limit)
    • Yellow is below normal (below the speed limit)
    • Orange is slow (significantly below the speed limit)
    • Red is extremely slow (traffic is at a crawl)
