Sign Ordinance Advisory Task Force

The task force will review the city’s current sign ordinance and submit recommendations to the Governing Body for consideration. The task force will meet for no longer than one year, with the goal of submitting suggestions to the Governing Body by Dec. 31, 2009.

Representation on the task force will consist of seven Rio Rancho residents selected by the mayor and approved by the City Council. Task force membership will include:

• A representative with personal experience or knowledge related to small business
• A representative with personal experience or knowledge related to large business
• A representative with personal experience or knowledge related to economic development
• A representative with personal experience or knowledge related to development
• A representative currently serving on the city’s Aesthetic Quality of Life Task Force or has served on the city’s Visual Arts and Cultural Enrichment Task Force
• Two municipal residents at-large

View (MS WORD) resolution that was approved by the City Council on June 24, 2009, which appointed the membership of the task force.  On September 23, 2009, the City Council appointed Roger Witt to the task force to replace Richard Galewater who resigned.

The task force will meet on the first and third Thursday of each month at 1:30 p.m. at the offices of the Rio Rancho Regional Chamber of Commerce, 4001 Southern Blvd. NE, with the exception of the July 30, 2009 meeting.

Meeting dates include:

July 30 - 1 p.m.
August 6 - 1:30 p.m.
August 20 - 1:30 p.m.
September 3 - 1:30 p.m.
September 17 - 1:30 p.m.
October 1 - 1:30 p.m.
October 22 - 1:30 p.m.
November 5 - 1:30 p.m.
November 19 - 1:30 p.m.
December 3 - 1:30 p.m.
December 17 - 1:30 p.m.

The task force will also hold three meetings at night where the public can provide their input.  The last of these meetings will take place at 6 p.m. on November 12 at the Sabana Grande Recreation Center, 4110 Sabana Grande Ave.
