America Recycles Day Collection March 6 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Wal-Mart at Southern & Unser Collection includes: Ink & Printer Cartridges, Eye Glasses, Hearing Aids, Used Clothing, Non-Perishable Food, Cell Phones, Computers, Monitors, Printers, Digital Phones, DVD Players, Scanners, Fax Machines, Televisions, Microwaves, Copiers, Rechargeable Batteries, Propane Tanks, Refrigerators, Stoves, Washers, Dryers, Passenger Vehicle Tires (4 per resident no rims), Cardboard, Magazines, Plastics #1-7, Newspaper, Office Paper, Tin, Aluminum, Brass, Copper, Stainless Steel, and Bronze. Household Hazardous Waste March 13 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Santa Star Event Center west parking lot FREE with required Proof of Rio Rancho residency Motor oil, tires (4 per resident no rims), antifreeze, paints, solvents, pesticides, herbicides, batteries, stoves, washers, dryers, refrigerators and ammunition accepted.
Community Workshops & Tree Giveaway March 13 9:00 a.m. to 12:00noon Esther Bone Memorial Library and Veteran’s Garden Learn about erosion control, native planting and water harvesting from our local experts. Receivefree tree seedlings to help build our urban canopy.
Great American Cleanup Kick-Off Party April 3 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Dairy Queen, 2116 Southern Blvd., Rio Rancho Register for the GAC, enjoy a free root beer float, activities and giveaways and meet Kerby Coyote!
Sandoval County Cleanup April 10 8:00 a.m. to 12:00noon Sandoval CountyLandfill Rio Rancho residents can dispose of waste for free at the Sandoval County Landfill. You are required to separate green waste/yard waste for composting. Proof of Rio Rancho residency is required. Absolutely no tree stumps, construction waste, appliances, tire, hazardous, medical or commercial waste will be accepted.
Mesa Cleanup April 10 8:00 a.m. to 12:00noon Volunteers from Rio Rancho and SandovalCounty will clean designated areas of the mesa.
Great American Cleanup April 24 8:00 a.m. to 12:00noon Community cleanup by volunteers from Girl Scouts, Boy Scouts, youth groups, church groups, civic, neighborhood and service organizations as well as individuals. Cleaning parks, roadsides, neighborhoods, schools, churches, illegal dumpsites, and vacant lots. KRRB will provide trash bags, gloves and goodie bags.
Great American Cleanup Thank You Party April 24 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. HaynesPark Volunteers are rewarded for their hard work with a luncheon at HaynesPark. Local businesses assist by donating food and dozens of prizes, which are given away to our deserving volunteers. Show your civic pride and join our cause.
