The Governing Body approved a balanced budget for FY 15 (July 1, 2014 to June 30, 2015) at their May 28, 2014 regular meeting. The balanced budget was submitted to the New Mexico Department of Finance (DFA) by May 31, 2014, in compliance with the law.
Following DFA review of the balanced budget (and barring any issues), DFA will grant preliminary approval of the FY 15 budget pending approval by the Governing Body of a final budget for FY 15.
The final budget will be posted to this Web page mid-August 2014.
Per the city’s Charter, the mayor of Rio Rancho has until April 25 to review the recommended budget and submit written comments to the city manager. Mayor Tom Swisstack has informed the city manager he will not submit comments, and will defer to the next mayor of Rio Rancho who will be officially sworn-in and take office at 6 p.m. on Monday, April 21.
The city manager’s recommended budget can be viewed by using the link below. A printed copy can be reviewed at the Office of the City Clerk at Rio Rancho City Hall, 3200 Civic Center Circle; Loma Colorado Main Library, 755 Loma Colorado Blvd.; or Esther Bone Memorial Library, 950 Pinetree Road.
The recommended FY 15 budget will be reviewed by the Rio Rancho Governing Body (mayor and city council) at three upcoming budget hearings: Thursday, May 1; Tuesday, May 6; and Wednesday, May 7. The budget hearings will take place at Rio Rancho City Hall at 6 p.m. All budget hearings will be streamed live and available as archived video on the city’s Web site, and broadcast on the city’s RioVision government cable channel 15, which is available to Rio Rancho Cable One subscribers.
The Governing Body will hear public comment regarding the FY 15 budget during their May 14 and May 28 regularly scheduled meetings at 6 p.m. at City Hall. A vote to adopt a budget for FY 15 will take place at the Governing Body’s May 28 meeting.
