Traffic Update
This page contains information on lane restrictions that may be present during road construction in the City of Rio Rancho.  Information will be updated on this page as it becomes available. Motorists traveling within construction zones are urged to drive with caution and observe traffic control devices. Remember to always wear your seat belt and drive the speed limit.

Current Road Construction:

  • Idalia Road: Construction for the Idalia Road Project will be from 7:00 a.m - 5:00 p.m., Monday-Friday, and weekends as needed.  Idalia Road will be closed from Iris Road to Camino Encantadas starting on November 19, 2015.  Residents can utilize Iris Road, Lincoln Avenue, Chayote Road, Campeche Road, and Pasilla Road for detours.  Access to the Judical Complex and Camino Encantadas via Idalia Road will be maintained at all times.  Please watch for trucks and construction workers in work zone areas.  Please also follow all construction signs and detours.
    • Construction is from November 16, 2015 - September 2016.
    • Notification: If the intersection of Campeche Road and Idalia Road is closed then the intersection of Chayote Road and Idalia Road will be open for local traffic to cross Idalia Road for North-South direction only.  If the intersection of Chayote Road and Idalia Road is closed then the intersection of Campeche Road and Idalia Road will be open for local traffic to cross Idalia Road for North-South direction only.
    • Notification to Residents: Please keep away from the construction zone.  There are several pieces of construction equipment running back and forth at the job site, and it is not safe to walk or bike along this area.

  • Idalia Road Tributary Crossing: Idalia Road just west of the Idalia Road and Iris Road roundabout will be closed to east of Althea Court.  This closure will allow for the replacement of an arroyo culvert at the Arroyo de la Barranca Tributary underneath Idalia Road.  The existing culvert structure partially failed due to heavy rains, and must be replaced to protect the Idalia Road crossing from complete failure as a result of a future rain event.  Residents living in the area will still have entry and exit access to and from their homes.  Work will be Monday - Friday from 8:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m., and weekends as necessary.  Drivers are advised to please follow all construction and detour signs, and to watch for trucks and construction workers.
    • Cost of the project is approximately $504,000.00 and funded through the General Fund.
    • Construction is from March 14, 2016 - July 2016.

  • Lift Station 10: Construction for the Lift Station 10 Project will be 8:00 a.m - 5:00 p.m., Monday-Friday.  Please follow all construction signs and detours.  Please also watch out for trucks and workers in the Pinehurst Road and Lost Tree Road area.
    • Construction is from September 14, 2015 - May 2016.

  • NM 528 and Southern Boulevard: The southbound right turn bay will be closed on NM 528 onto Southern Boulevard.  There will be utility work being performed by TLC and New Mexico Department of Transportation (NMDOT).  Work will be 7:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m., Monday - Friday.
    • Construction is from April 18 - May 6, 2016.

  • This map is updated every 5 minutes.

  • Key:
    • Blue is fast (above the speed limit)
    • Green is normal (around the speed limit)
    • Yellow is below normal (below the speed limit)
    • Orange is slow (significantly below the speed limit)
    • Red is extremely slow (traffic is at a crawl)
