Transit is a door-to-door transportation service for individuals 55 years of age and older, and for disabled adults 18 years of age and older.
Rio Transit serves Rio Rancho residents only and you must be registered to use the service.
All buses are equipped with wheelchair lifts.

Transfer Notice
On Dec. 16, 2009, the Rio Rancho City Council adopted a resolution to transfer the city’s Rio Transit Program to the
Mid-Region Council of Governments and their Rio Metro Regional Transit District, effective Jan. 1, 2010.
This transfer allows for the expansion of the public transit services beyond what the city is able to provide at this time, and at the same time insures that taxpayers are not paying for services already supported by a regional transit tax passed by voters in 2008.
The door-to-door transit services previously offered to individuals by the city of Rio Rancho-operated Rio Transit program - 55 years of age and older and disabled adults 18 years of age and older – will not be affected or interrupted by this transfer.
