Getting a Library Card
Library cards are easy to obtain, and all library users, young and old, need to have their own library card. All New Mexico residents are eligible to apply. Library cards are nontransferable.
To apply for a Library Card, the following is required:
-Current Picture ID with current address
or
-Current Picture ID and proof of current address (examples include: utility bill or other piece of mail, check with the new printed address, car registration or insurance, or voter registration card)
Children 12 and under must have a parent or guardian present when applying for a library card.
A Limited Card can be used to check out two books, but no audiovisual materials. This type of card will be issued to
-Children 13 and over without a parent present
-Adults without proof of current New Mexico address
A Nonresident Card is available for those visiting from out of state.
