  1. Holiday Arts/Crafts Festival and Santa’s Workshop

    November 22, 9:00 AM - 4:00 PM @ Sabana Grande Recreation Center

    The entire family can enjoy two events at one location on Saturday, Nov. 22 at the Sabana Grande Recreation Center. The annual Holiday Arts and Crafts Festival will provide special, unique and extraordinary gift opportunities to complete every shopping list. The event will take place from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and admission is free. While adults do their shopping at the arts and crafts festival, children can purchase gifts at Santa’s Workshop. All items will be priced at $7 or less. In addition, kids will be able to visit with Santa and have their picture taken. The workshop hours will be 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., admission is free, and all ages are welcome.

  2. Create a Scarf Design - Program is full

    November 22, 10:00 AM - 11:30 AM @ 950 Pinetree Rd. SE

    Esther - Anyone age 8 and up can sign-up to decorate a scarf with the Rio Rancho Art Association (RRAA). Come join members of the RRAA for this super fun and easy way to create your own unique scarf. RRAA will provide attendees with a blank white scarf to work with along with all other needed supplies to leave with your very own creation of a bright and colorful scarf. Perfect to gift to someone lucky for the upcoming holidays. Registration is required and starts November 1st.

  3. AYS Chamber Music Showcase

    November 22, 2:00 PM - 3:30 PM @ Loma Colorado Main Library Auditorium

    Loma - The Albuquerque Youth Symphony Chamber Musicians will perform a variety of the finest chamber music ever composed for string, woodwind, and brass. These ensembles perform regularly at Popejoy Hall and the National Hispanic Cultural Center. Treat yourself to a stolen Saturday afternoon of great music performed by the best young musicians in New Mexico.

  4. Dinosaur Feathers: An Illustrated Lecture by Dwight Jennison

    November 24, 6:30 PM - 7:45 PM @ Loma Colorado Main Library Auditorium

    Loma - Since the late 1990s, it has been known that some dinosaurs had feathers or at least filamentous "proto-feathers". Now, we have many more examples, including beautiful dinosaur feathers preserved in amber and a find suggesting that almost all dinosaurs may have had some sort of feathers. Occasionally, even pigment particles are preserved, enabling us to know their colors! Dwight Jennison, PhD, is from the NM Museum of Natural History.

    A meeting of the Special Committee for Specific Area Plans will take place on Tuesday, Nov. 25, 2014, from 3 p.m.to 5 p.m. at Rio Rancho City Hall in the First Floor Development Services Conference Room. The meeting is open to the public. The committee is comprised of City Councilors, city staff and citizens. Future meeting dates/times will be posted to the city’s Web site.

    Loma - For a Woman, directed by Academy award-winning Diane Kurys, is a poignant story of love, war, and the secrets of a generation that stretches from WWII concentration camps to 1980s France. It was an official selection of fourteen film festivals. Bonus short film: Le Ballon de Rouge, directed by Sylvain Bressollette. Both films are in French with English subtitles and are unrated.
